Designed as a moment of self-care and creative living, this workshop invites you to slow down and practice mindfulness through intentional mark-making. Perfect for beginners and intermediate calligraphy students alike, you’ll learn how to form beautiful calligraphic letters, words, and phrases using timeless tools: pointed pen and ink.
Rooted in a slow, intentional approach, this hands-on workshop offers space to reconnect with creativity, presence, and process—no rushing, no pressure. Taught by Molly Chidsey, a Portland-based illustrator, calligrapher, and art educator, this class blends practical skill-building with a calming, restorative atmosphere that supports mindful creativity both on and off the page.

Hosted at the Candle Creation Bar in NE Portland, you will be surrounded by good vibes and good smells of eco-conscious essential oils and nearby Jasmine Pearl teas.
What you will learn
1. How to create thick and thin contrasting lines with a brush pen or pointed pen and ink
2. Overview of the essential shapes that make up the calligraphy alphabet
3. How to assemble shapes into letters, words, and phrases
4. Create a layout of a phrase, quote, or name in calligraphy to take home
